Vow Renewal

Shannon and Eric, it is a pleasure to share today’s very special occasion with you. Many people believe that entering into marriage is the final step in a romantic relationship. As they see it, a couple meets, gets to know each other, falls in love, decides they want to go through life together, and then take the final step—marriage.  But marriage is not meant to be the final step in a couple’s relationship—it is really just the beginning of a grand adventure, that hopefully, will be long and fruitful for each couple. You have shared the joys, blessings, and yes, the challenges, of married life for 10 years. And, today you wish to reconfirm your commitment to working together to make your marriage grow and blossom in the years to come. May this ceremony, renewing the vows you took to become husband and wife on your wedding day, remind you that despite the stresses inevitable in every life, your love, respect, trust and understanding of each other will continue to increase your contentment and heighten your joy in living.

Please join hands.

Reading of Vows
Eric and Shannon, the vows that you are about to make are a way to share your love and commitment to each other in your own words. These vows are your way of openly declaring your promise to one another as well as to all of those who are here in attendance today.

Love endures and is kind. Love is not envious or jealous.
Love wants not for itself. Love is not puffed up, nor does it behave wrongly.
Love seeks not for it's own. Love is not easily provoked.
Love is not rude. Love thinks No evil.
Love does not rejoice in wrong, but dwells in the truth.
Love bears all things, believes all things, endures all things, and love never fails.

Vows
Eric, will you continue to have Janet as your wife and continue to live in this marriage? (I WILL)

Do you reaffirm your love for her, and will you love, honor and cherish her in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, for better for worse, and foresaking all others, be faithful to her as long as you both shall live? (I DO)

Shannon, will you continue to have Brad as your husband and continue to live in this marriage? (I WILL)
Do you reaffirm your love for him, and will you love, honor and cherish him in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, for better for worse, and foresaking all others, be faithful to him as long as you both shall live? (IDO)

I ask that you each remember to continue to cherish each other as special and unique individuals and that you each respect the thoughts and ideas of one another. And most of all, be able to forgive each other, and not hold grudges against one another. Live each day in love with each other, always
being there to give love, comfort, and refuge to each other, in good times and bad.
Eric and Shannon today you have renewed the promises and vows you made to each other on your wedding day. You have symbolized the renewal of the marriage union by the taking of vows, and by the wearing of your wedding rings. It is with pleasure that I conclude the ceremony of renewing the vows of marriage that joined you and binds you as husband and wife.

Welcome everyone to the wedding ceremony of Kelly and James. We gather here to celebrate the most intimate of bonds between

two people--marriage. You all have been invited here not just as guests to a wedding, but as close and important witnesses of the love that

Kelly and James share.

Reading

When reflecting on the meaning of marriage, I came across an excerpt by Daphne Rose Kingma that I'd like to share with you.
In marriage we say not only, I love you today, but also, I promise to love you tomorrow, the next day, and always.
In promising always, we promise each other time. We promise to exercise our love, to stretch it large enough to embrace the unforeseen

realities of our future. We promise to learn to love beyond the level of our instincts and inclinations, to love in foul weather as well as good, to

love in hard times as well as when we are exhilarated by the pleasures of romance. We change because of these promises. We shape ourselves according to them; we live in their midst and live differently because of them. We feel protected because of them. Our souls are protected;

our hearts have come home.

Declaration Of Intent

James, do you take Kelly to be your Wife?  "I Do"
Do you promise to love, honor, cherish and protect her, forsaking all others and holding only unto her for as long

as you both shall live? "I Do"
Kelly, do you take James to be your Husband? "I Do"
Do you promise to love, honor, cherish and protect him, forsaking all others and holding only unto him for as long

as you both shall live? "I Do"

Wedding Script #6

Today is a celebration. A celebration of Love, commitment, Friendship, and Family. A marriage ceremony has been a significant feature

across every Culture, Religion, Generation, and Society. We have thousands of important moments that happen throughout our lives,
but this one is regarded as critical, we acknowledge its special status by sharing it with others because despite all of our differences, Love is

what we all share. No matter who we are, where we've come from, what we believe, we know this one thing:

LOVE IS WHAT WE ARE DOING RIGHT. That's why we all are standing here today.

Blessing (optional)

We're here to hope with you, support you, be proud of you, and to remind you that Love is not happily ever after.  Love is the experience

of writing your story.
It's not one moment- not even this moment. It's every moment, big ones like saying, "I LOVE YOU",  but mostly a million small moments

that come in between the big ones. Falling asleep next to each other, making dinner together, spending Holidays with your Families....
These everyday moments fuse together into one big experience. Even though this experience is so incredible, words fail us when we try to
explain Love. That's just the way it is with Love- it's meant to be felt, not described. You fell in Love by Chance.  You're here today because

you're making a choice. You both are choosing each other.  You've chosen to be with someone who enhances you,who makes you think,
who makes you smile, and who makes your everyday brighter.

Declaration Of Intent

Will you... James, keep Kelly as your favorite person - to laugh with her, go on adventures with her, supporting her through life's tough moments,
to be proud of her, to grow old with her, and to find new reasons to Love her everyday?  "I Will"

to be proud of him, to grow old with him, and to find new reason to Love him everyday? "I Will"

Ring Exchange

You both have chosen to wear rings as a reminder of these promises.  People say wedding bands are a perfect circle,
with no beginning and no end. But these rings did have a beginning, The stones were formed a long time ago, deep within the Earth.
Eventually, a series of luck events caused them to rise to the surface, where someone dug them up. Metal was then liquified in a furnace,
molded, cooled, and polished. Something beautiful was made from raw elements. Love is like that. It comes from humble beginnings. As you
look at these rings over the years, I hope you remember that. You've created something invaluable, and just as I know you'll protect

these rings, I'm confident you'll protect the commitments you've made to one another.

James, please place the ring on Kelly's left hand and repeat after me:
As a sign of my love that I have chosen you above all else with this ring I thee wed.
